The Privacy Problem
In the early days of the web, compressing an image or converting a PDF meant downloading clunky desktop software. To solve this, developers built online tools. But these online tools came with a massive hidden cost: your privacy.
Today, millions of users unknowingly upload their passports, financial statements, and private family photos to remote servers just to make the files small enough to email. We realized this was a fundamental security flaw. Your data shouldn't have to leave your computer just to be resized.
Our Solution: Client-Side Processing
We built OfflineCompress to shift the processing power back to where it belongs: your device.
By leveraging modern web technologies like WebAssembly (Wasm) and the Canvas API, we've created a suite of tools that run entirely inside your browser sandbox. When you drag and drop a file onto our site, it is never uploaded to any server. The code executes locally on your CPU.
Why This Matters:
- Zero Data Leaks: Hackers cannot steal what we do not have. Because we never receive your files, a data breach on our end will never expose your sensitive documents.
- No File Size Limits: Cloud tools charge you when files exceed 10MB because server bandwidth is expensive. Since we use your computer's processing power, we don't have server costs, which means you have no file size caps.
- Offline Capability: Once the page loads, you can physically disconnect from the internet and the tool will continue to work perfectly.
Who We Are
We are a small team of independent developers, privacy advocates, and open-web enthusiasts. We believe that privacy shouldn't be a premium feature—it should be the default.
We grew tired of the invasive tracking and aggressive data harvesting practices common in the tech industry, so we decided to build the tools we wanted to use ourselves.
Support Our Work
OfflineCompress is provided completely free of charge. If you find our tools useful and want to support our mission of keeping the web private, the best way to help is by sharing our site with your friends, family, and colleagues.
